New Certified Lifting Machinery Capability Positions IES at the Forefront of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Growth

Ikamvalethu Engineering Solutions (IES), a South African specialist engineering company serving the renewable energy sector, has announced the launch of its certified Lifting Machinery Entity (LME) capability in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape - a strategic hub for South Africa’s wind energy sector and a key region in the country’s clean energy transition.
The certification marks a significant milestone for both the company and the broader renewable energy industry as South Africa accelerates wind energy deployment and expands its renewable energy project pipeline. With growing demand for operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term asset performance, the availability of additional specialised local service providers is becoming increasingly important to the sector.
As a certified Lifting Machinery Entity, IES is now positioned to provide specialised lifting machinery
inspection, load testing, maintenance, and related technical services to wind energy projects and
broader renewable energy infrastructure. The capability strengthens local industry capacity while
providing owners, operators, EPC contractors, and OEMs with greater access to responsive, compliant, and cost-effective technical support.
Founded in 2015, IES has steadily expanded its renewable energy service offering across engineering and technical support, lift maintenance services, lifting machinery inspection and load testing, wind turbine blade inspection and repair, and maintenance optimisation services.
The launch comes at a fundamental time for South Africa’s energy transition, as the country advances new renewable energy procurement rounds, grid expansion initiatives, and private sector generation projects. As the sector grows, so too does the need for skilled local engineering partners capable of supporting maintenance performance, operational uptime, and infrastructure reliability.
“The launch of our certified Lifting Machinery Entity capability is an important milestone for Ikamvalethu Engineering Solutions and a meaningful contribution to South Africa’s renewable energy sector. It reflects our commitment to building credible local capability that supports safe operations, compliance, and technical excellence,” said Patrick Njoloza, Managing Director of Ikamvalethu Engineering Solutions.
“We believe the market benefits when owners and OEMs have access to more specialised, responsive, and high-quality service partners. This launch is therefore not only about certification, but also about strengthening the broader renewable energy value chain and expanding the services we can deliver to the industry.”
In addition to its newly launched LME capability, IES provides specialist wind turbine blade inspection and repair services, including rope access inspections, leading edge protection repairs, lightning damage repair, composite structural repairs, laminate restoration, and aerodynamic surface finishing. The company also delivers technical support services including fault diagnosis, commissioning support, electrical and mechanical diagnostics, control system troubleshooting, sensor calibration, safety system testing, and technical training.
