energyDRIVE

energyDRIVE is an education and awareness initiative that aims to promote renewable power technologies and create awareness among learners. It features a custom-built mobile edu-unit that showcases various technologies related to energy efficiency and renewable energy sources such as wind energy components, solar PV rooftops, battery storage, biogas digesters, and solar water heater systems. The initiative is designed to be interactive, engaging, and educational, with the intention of attracting maximum participation from learners.

Management Development Programme for Women in Renewable Energy (MDP)

Designed by the Wits Business School, the inaugural Management Development Programme for Women in Renewable Energy was launched in March 2023. The programme aims to address the skills gap in the renewable energy industry and to accelerate the growth of senior female leadership within the sector. The initiative is led by the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) through the collaborative Gender Diversity Working Group (GDWG) with the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association (SAPVIA) and Energy & Water Sector Education Training Authority (EWSeta).

WIIP Internship Program

The South Africa Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) is thrilled to announce the continuation of the Wind Industry Internship Programme (WIIP) in 2024. Having successfully launched in January 2022, WIIP facilitated the placement of 15 interns under the guidance of SAWEA member organisations for a duration of 12 months. Building upon this success, in 2023, SAWEA expanded its efforts, placing over 20 interns, some of whom have already transitioned into permanent positions within their assigned member companies.
